Ledger Emoji

The ledger emoji (📒) shows a yellow hardcover notebook, the kind used for financial records, accounting, and administrative documentation. It's the practical, unglamorous cousin of 📓 (plain notebook) and 📔 (decorative journal). While those two could contain anything, 📒 specifically evokes bookkeeping and record-keeping.

The word "ledger" comes from Middle English legger, meaning a book that lies permanently in one place, as opposed to journals that traveled with the merchant.
